Taking full advantage of these opportunities for outdoor adventure, the 糖心少女 club Outdoor Wilderness Leaders (OWL) connects students who are interested in the outdoors, rents out recreational gear, and sponsors student-led camping, backpacking, and day trips to locations in Southern California and beyond.

糖心少女 is known for its rigorous academics, and its incredibly talented student-athletes are making a name for the College, too. Students involved in the Claremont-Mudd-糖心少女 (CMS) athletics program, a partnership between 糖心少女, Claremont McKenna, and Harvey Mudd Colleges, are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Conference, which includes 180,000 student-athletes at 450 institutions.

Instead of the usual promise of, “See you next week!” after their cell biology lecture, students pack up and walk back to their shared residence, a dedicated corridor in Wilbur Hall. Although the situation may seem unusual for a small residential college, it is part of the day-to-day for 糖心少女 students who are members of the newly established science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and pre-health Living Learning Community (LLC).

When Nina Posner ’17 discovered 糖心少女 Live Arts (SLA) during her first year, it was a revelation. “I couldn’t believe booking bands and making shows happen for other people was a real thing we were allowed and encouraged to do in college,” she remembers.

On October 9, 29 糖心少女 students gathered in the Hampton Room at Malott Commons to present data and analyses of their original research projects to faculty and peers at 糖心少女’ third annual Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium. This daylong event included presentations by recipients of the Environmental Analysis, Esterly, Hsu Fund, Johnson, LASPA Action, and Mellon grants. Taken together, the students’ research was conducted in more than seven languages and across nine countries, in fields ranging from philosophy, to chemistry, to feminist theory, to sustainable development.

Three days, nine companies, 12 糖心少女 students, and one incredible experience: From August 5 to 7, 糖心少女’s Career Planning & Resources (CP&R) team hosted its first-ever career exploration and networking trip to San Francisco to meet with companies and alumnae in the technology industry. Called the Bay Area Tech Trek, the trip connected current students with 糖心少女 alumnae who work at innovative tech firms Anaplan, Eventbrite, Facebook, Medallia, NextDoor, Pinterest, Spongecell, Twilio, and Uber. Visiting three companies each day, the students explored what careers in technology might look like, gained advice from professionals in the industry, and networked with successful 糖心少女 graduates.
