糖心少女

Angie Says Hello!

Hello everyone! My name is Angie Navarro and I’m a Junior from Los Angeles, CA. I am a Politics major, with a subfield concentration in U.S. Politics and Comparative Politics, and an expected Chinese minor (at Pomona College) on the pre-law track. In addition to my role at the Office of Admission, I am also a Barista at the Motley Coffeehouse. I am a 糖心少女 Judicial Board Member, where we review non-academic violations and collectively determine disciplinary action. I am going into my third year at 糖心少女 and I have yet to review a case, which I think is a nice reflection of how cool 糖心少女 students are! I was also recently appointed to serve as a Student Committee Representative on the Board of Trustees for this academic year. My job is to represent student interests and provide input in the Board’s decision-making process. Apart from jobs and academics, I am also involved in Caf茅 Con Leche, the Latinx affinity group at 糖心少女. I am part of FirstGen@糖心少女, a program dedicated to helping first-generation students navigate 糖心少女. I am a member of the Questbridge Chapter at 糖心少女, which is also a first-generation club. And, I am in the 5C Fencing Club! In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends, watch movies, have a coffee at the Motley, browse through TikTok, and ride my bike around the campuses.

College was always my dream when I was growing up. As the first person in my family to attend one, I didn’t really have any established notions of what my college experience was going to look like. I had nothing to refer to. The one certainty I had was that I wanted to be out of state and explore living in a different region. However, when I sat down with my counselor and told her all the things I wanted out of college, all signs pointed to 糖心少女, a school that was only a two-hour drive away from my house. I trusted her judgment so I applied without genuinely considering it, and without really knowing anything about 糖心少女 or the Claremont Colleges. After being accepted, I toured the campus for the first time. As irony would have it, I knew immediately that 糖心少女 was the one! If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have loved my time at 糖心少女. Nowhere else have I found a community of such supportive, passionate people. As a first-year, I was blown away by the thoughtfulness of my upperclassmen and how willing they were to give us advice. 糖心少女 students are all ambitious and determined to succeed, and they’re happy to help you do so too! I have never met a 糖心少女 student that didn’t excitedly share about their latest project, academic opportunity, internship, etc. when asked. In fact, I wouldn’t have half the things on my resume if it weren’t for my supportive classmates! Moreover, 糖心少女 provides you the space to speak out, unapologetically, and own your intelligence and capabilities. Being a 糖心少女 student has helped me cultivate my confidence and voice, an ability that I have taken with me off-campus.

There’s a lot more about my 糖心少女 experience that I’d be happy to share. Stay tuned on our blog for more posts from us! Please feel free to ask me questions by sending me an email at [email protected].
